Pirates in Somalia

Ok we all have been reading about the pirates in somalia for the last few years now… what I want to know is when will the world get pro active with it? With all of our technology every ship that passes through the area should have enough fire power to blow them out of the water at the first sneeze from them. Surely arming a ship and crew to take care of themselves would be more cost effective than the constant stoppage and hostage taking and ransoms. When any group resorts to this type of behaviour it’s time to not turn the other cheek, now we should just kick ass and get it over with. I mean it’s hard to be a pirate when your trying to paddle a splinter left in the ocean.

Idol What???????

Ok I promised myself I wasn’t going to watch American Idol this year, but that program is like a train wreck, you have to watch just to gross yourself out. Last year the talent was real, more than one could have won and I would have been happy. This year it’s like a bunch of junior high school tryouts! Surely there is more talent out there than this? Are the deciding judges just getting bored and sloppy? I mean they ARE the ones that decide who will make it into the competition in the first place and frankly none this year with the exception of Adam should even be there. I have seen Kris do a number or so that was ok and could have been good but he’s not consistent. None of the rest of them and I DO mean none of the rest of them should even be there because there range is at best limited and by watching the judges faces you can see they are struggling to say something nice, anything nice. Even Simon seems too bored to even be mean and in fact I rarely think he is mean he is just to the point. Well I have to thank all of them this year because they have made it very easy for me to now channel surf on their timeslot.

Wow it’s been 3 Days!

I can’t believe it’s been three days since my last blog, dang time flies by quickly! Well it’s april 8th and we had snow yesterday and this morning now does that SUCK or what? Not that anything will last mind you, we are getting to close to the sun for that now but it’s just the promise of spring for a week or so and then BOOM! Not nice mother nature! Speaking of mother nature, please remember that on the 22nd of this month is Earth Day! It might seem like just another day to you but it’s not. It’s a day you can make your own small commitment to help green up mother earth. Small things help, like no plastic when you go shopping or not buying from companies that use styrofoam little things REALLY add up especially when we all do them. Our landfills are overflowing and much of it will never dissolve, never return to what it once was and as the populations of the world rise so does our garbage, expoentially! So go to Earth Day.com and see how you can help, your puppy will lick you for it! :)

Todays a Wash…..

Not really much for me to blog about today because after working a few hours this morning from 6 a.m. until about 11 a.m. I did a bit of grocery shopping and had every intention of working out in the yard. Wayyyyyyy too windy for that! So instead I did the next best thing, I ate some lunch and took a nap! I am sooooo lame sometimes! Well Monday it’s back to the gym for me! Not so much as to “get back into shape” because at my age, 55, there is no such thing. Instead I must try to maintain and not turn into one of those horrid saggy older Americans we see now, heck we even see that with the young ones now. It makes me appreciate how much effort people in film and the public eye must work to keep up their appearance. I know we all envy them there lifestyle, but if you look around at average American Joe and Jane, they sure are not willing to put in the effort that those guys do so my hats off to them. I still envy them their lifestyle but I do NOT envy them what they must go through to have it!

Are They Kidding ME?

Ok this one will be short and sweet. The G20 Summit is bringing together a package of one TRILLION to help us out of this financial mess…umhmmm. Now I don’t know if any of these nations have really balanced their checkbooks in a DAY OR TWO, however all of them are in actuality broke. Money is just numbers not the actual cash we have on hand, so pray tell or should I say “prey” tell, where are we going to get the money FOR this? Borrow it from each other? Of course, silly me, rob Peter to pay Paul. What a joke.
Why don’t we do something really radical like teach our politicians and children alike to spend only what you HAVE! Credit has led to more greed which leads to more credit more greed…you get the picture and the economic reality of this is simple… we are never going to live long enough to pay it off! Where does all that bad debt then go? Why to the living of course, who are spending like crazy, dollars they don’t have so THEY can die and leave billions more to the people that are living to pay off with inflated house prices, goods and interest rates. Yep guys, thank god for that summit you have really spent more of our tax dollars that we do not have to pay and that you do not have in your pockets yet, for a good cause. Oh wait, you probably charged it right?

What a day for a daydream…..

What a day for a daydreamin boy….. Nice song, unfortunately I’m at work and can’t afford that luxury though I most certainly DO have that thought! It’s a beautiful spring day here in central Pennsylvania, most unusual also since our springs lately are cold, wet and grey! Not today, not today…yay! However I will be stuck here in my office until about 8 pm tonight so I will miss all but the fleeting glances I take out of my window as birds flit here and there busy building a nest for the clutch they will soon lay and at the trees slowly but surely sprouting their buds giving us a tease, a hint of what is to come. Spring is a promise of the renewal of life, that all things pass, both good and bad and yet if we take a hint from mother nature we will see that there is always hope, there is always something new and small and totally dependent on our ability to help it live, to nourish it into being. Let’s give this nourishment to mother earth and help her become what she once was, fresh and verdant and full of promise and life! Do your part to help, cut your enviromental footprint as much as you can, plant only plants that are indigenous to your area and thus require less maintenance. Do NOT use pesticides except those made from natural plants and flora and put up a bird house or two to help our feathered friends. Don’t toss that old bread into the trash, tear it up and feed it to the birds it can give them a great boost of much needed energy and make their busy lives just a touch easier and they will have more time to sing us their sweet songs. Yes spring is here, are we worthy of it?

Another day another tweet

Woke up at 5 a.m., Kalli my dog snuggled up next to me. She does NOT like it when I get out of bed to slip downstairs and make my first pot of coffee for the day. I come back up and notice that the wind is still howling outside and rain is whipping against my bedroom windows…..brrrr sounds cold. I turn on the computer and already there are quite a few tweets from France, of course there would be they are 5 hours ahead of EST time. Rob and Ashton are already on the set of their new movie “The Five Killers”. Ashton isn’t tweeting much yet, he must be busy, Rob on the otherhand takes his time to give us on the set pics and videos and his day isn’t going so well it’s cold and wet in Nice also. I get a tweet from Michael Castro, he had a great show at A&M, his tweets are always short and to the point. Jason Castro his brother was having a hard time getting back to LA from Texas last night, I wonder if he made it? Last time I tweeted him he was on a hop in Houston….sipping coffee….another day in tweeterdice…..grin

Rain and Pictures

I wake up and it’s cool and raining, should I be depressed? Probably, but I’m not. I see a twitter from Rob Luketic the director who is making his latest film in Nice France, and he shows us all the view he has from his window, it’s gorgeous but rainy and cold and grey. C’est la vie! That picture wiped out any thought of being depressed for the day. So I pull up some of my favorite pictures like this one when I was in Assisi Italy. 0248915-r1-007-23 Why is it for me that Europe always has the best scenery? Maybe because I’m in love with it I’m a bit biased but I think that it’s more that, it’s so much older than the Americas. When you see views in Europe you see history living with the people. They are not a tear down society as we are here. There they blend the old with the new, here we just tear it down and have new, a new that rarely looks good but is a reminder that it “will do” until we tear it down to build something else. So now I will stop this post and lose myself in views of Europe and sip my morning coffee and listen to the birds sing in the early morning drizzle. Not such a bad day after all……

Silence is Not Always a Good Thing

It is 4:28 in the morning and I am sitting at my desk sipping my first cup of coffee of the day and smoking my third damn cigarette, yeah I know I must quit! It is raining outside and my little dog Kalli just rolled her eyes at me from my bed where she is laying and trying to go back to sleep, she has more sense than I do it seems. It is quiet, and in this quiet my mind wanders to all of the problems in my life, all the failures all the negative. Why is that? Shouldn’t we in this busy noisy world of today cherish silence? Shouldn’t it bring calm and peace? Seems not, I read a few of my twitters and it seems I am not the only early riser that gets maudlin in the stillness of the night. Yet I still love it, I love the silence, I love the sound of the rain gently crying on my windows and even the much put upon look my little dog is giving me. Maybe it’s a good thing we take the time to reflect on the negative things in life, notice I said reflect not dwell…..ok maybe silence IS always a good thing……..

Twitterlicious

Well let me start this by saying that I was not a fan of social networking sites, yes I have a facebook, yes I have a myspace but before you point your finger and snigger let me say I did this just to preserve my name place. I found such sites to be both intrusive and really more for kids. I knew of Twitter checked it out when it first started and said “bleah” and canceled my account. I have recently given it another try and I must say I was wrong. It gives you a view into the world and it’s people that we rarely see. From Ashton Kutcher and his wife Demi Moore I have had my eyes open to a new vista. YES those two! Both seem to be very regular people and really concerned about the world around us and not in a flippant way. Ashton is really quite the thinker and thinks out of the box which is evident if you tweet with him. Demi is both charming and funny and very aware of what is happening TO the world and IN the world around her. From her I have connected with people that try to stop human trafficking and doctors interested in how vaccines affect the children of the world, both good and bad. Now I am not here to say that Twitter is all deep thought and roses, but I am saying that it can be more than that, much more and I certainly plan to be part of it from now on! Have a great day and Ashton if your out there have a great shoot in Monaco and Mrs K have a gread day in LA! Thanks for opening up my eyes a bit more……. pardon the pun :)
